We Could Be You, Mom&Dad.

Well, here we are.
Los Angeles, California.
I think we long more for the trip down than the actual being here.
We started out caravanning loosely... with Judge and Jessie, and Kevin not far behind.
Our first night set our adventurous tone.  Searching with headlamps through countless pull-offs....
can we camp here? will we be seen? reprimanded?
Then we found Ocean Beach...11:30pm or so.
Rain.  Wind.  Surf.
Can we do this?  Wyatt and Judge thrust us through....
they were so excited.
Once Jessie and I were standing next to a miracle fire, drenched in our dresses and eating tin foil potatoes with our hands and chili....
we couldn't deny being excited too.
It was wonderful.  Miserable and wonderful.

I Had a Dream...

Joe Sorren.
you are wonderful.  "I Had a Dream I Punched You in the Face"
who comes up with these?
I've recently become very involved with language.  I read in one of my mothers books last night, where someone said "{the English} Language consists of five basic sounds produced by the vocal chords.  They are the vowels a, e, i, o, u. The other sounds are consonants produced by air pressure: s, f, g, and so forth. Do you believe some combination of such basic sounds could ever explain who you are, or the ultimate purpose of the universe, or even what a tree or stone is in its depth?"
It's incredible that we get along down here, even with a multitude of languages to choose from. Using words in just the right way to convey feeling, depth.
This is fascinating.... and worth a go at, I think.
Music does it.  Poetry.

On that note, some glimpses at my fairy-tale weekend on the sea...

DIGITAL GRATITUDES 5.20.08 explained

So, as crazy as it seems to thank the digital media we all abhor so vehemently from time to time,
I must take this day to do so, because they have allowed me to create good things.

Today, I finished the designs for FEVER THEATERs new website, and I am very happy!

Thank you, macintosh.
Thank you, adobe.
Thank you, color and form and pen and ink.

I am grateful.
for you.

DIGITAL GRATITUDES:
did anyone know such a thing even existed?
grateful for arthritis and sore eyes?
kind of.....

gratitudes 5.11.08

FIRST and foremost gratitude:
MY MOM!!

no joke, friends, my mom is THE BEST you can get.  I know you all think you're moms are great, etc etc.  But I am here to say that my mom is the most energetic, infectious, happy, giving, and gracious woman I know.  Her ability to lighten and brighten the lives around her is astounding!
I love you, Mama.

On the same subject, there are a few other moms I'd like to give second place to:
Rachel Garfield, you are my most beautiful second mom.  I'm so glad you are a part of my life.
Pat Murphy, you will always be the second mom of my childhood, the beach, and the earth.  I'd still be terrified of bugs if it weren't for you:)

THANK GOODNESS FOR MOTHERS!!!

................................................................................................................................................

Ok, I've found myself!
In Blue, with feathers and unwashed hair....that is me.  That is where I belong.
Why is this always such a struggle for me?

I LOVE having these beautiful pieces of nature slightly attached to me...even if only with bobby pins:)

Wye, you get this one...

I'm not sure what to tell you folks, I just felt GREAT today!!!  And following are a few reasons why....

In clearing out our house for our departure in June, I felt compelled to the scraps of fabric I got from SCRAP to make something.  But what?  Well, after trying to fit all of my travel shampoo and toothpaste into a really hideous, but free, Estee Lauder teal blue make-up bag, I knew what I must do.

Now I have a medicine cabinet full of soft, handmade bags to hold my things....
Hurray!!!  I've never made anything like it before--so having them turn out was truly a miracle!

A tiny one for my moon cup...:)
yeah, i'll promote it....

And for the grand finale....
I made this one for Wyatt.  He's in los angeles at the moment, so he doesn't know about it yet....
shhh.....

it's got a clam on it....

first things first.  who could ask for a love better than this?
he's got his head in the piano and his feet in the movies......
i love you, wye.

then there're some pictures from school.  I was feeling a bit nostalgic knowing I only have one more month at Maplewood Elementary.

And then there's Fever Theater....and their new show: New Believers.
great great feats!!
